The circle of films from regional to mainstream and back to regional

The Malayalam film, ‘Manichitrathazhu’ was remade into a dramatic Tamil version of the original, ‘Chandramukhi’. This was later made into Bollywood film 'Bhool Bhulaiya' starring Akshay Kumar, Shiney Ahuja and Vidya Balan.

Now the news is that 'Naan Ee' will be launched into its Hindi counterpart soon. The film was titled, 'Eega' in Telugu and 'Eecha' in Malayalam. However, the cherry-on-top is that the film is releasing next month on October 12th in Bollywood, with its synonymous meaning title – ‘Makhi’. The hindi edition of SS Rajamouli's recent tamil extravaganza, 'Naan Ee', which created waves at the South Indian box office, now hopes to create waves in Bollywood! Sharing his excitement, actor Sudeep, who also stars in the film, said, "The hindi version of 'Naan Ee' is going to be releasing on October 12. That is great news! Looking forward to the film's release".

Next in the pipeline is Sonu Sood starrer, ‘Madha Gaja Raja’ a Tamil film directed by Sundar C.

Kollywood has it’s own unique feel and approach to film making. It’s ginormous star base comprising of Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Surija, Karthi, Nayantara, Ajith and all those names that have become so popular in other film worlds as well. But is this depriving Kollywood of it’s own unique style of filmmaking? With Prabhu Deva jumping full hands and feet into ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and ‘Joker’ and Dhanush in Bollywood opposite Sonam Kapoor in ‘Raanjhnaa’.

Well! We’ll never know for sure, if Kollywood is hell bent on heading towards a world of ‘mixes and matches’. It’s not long before Kollywood, Mollywood, Tollywood, Bollywood and all the woods we have ever come across, merge into one big ‘not-so-happy’ family. Or has that time already come?
